Aether: Creators the world’s first carbon-negative diamonds.
I found another brand that got me very curious because of the way they claim to sustainably create diamonds from the air and that for me is some serious and creative approach to fight the so famous climate change.
I don’t believe that all these brands claiming to be sustainable fully are, sometimes these new and innovative techniques can be even and some had proven to be worse than the traditional practices but since they are so new we can’t form a verdict yet, only time will tell, but I got to give it to the geniuses out there looking for ways to reduce contamination, carbon footprint and becoming more ethical in their practices.
This particular brand I believe is already on the right track just by staying away from digging and destroying our soil, the rest, I couldn’t even start understanding how in the world one can turn an intangible element into a stone, but let them explain you, you might be able to understand this better than me.
Diamonds Alchemized From The Air:
Introducing the future of fine jewelry, designed for humans and the planet. We create the world’s positive-impact and truly sustainable diamonds: alchemized from air and hand-set in introducing responsibly- source metals.
Aether diamonds are physically and chemically identical to mined diamonds, except they don’t come from deep inside the earth—they are transformed from excess carbon pollution in the atmosphere that would otherwise contribute to global warming.
After years of “blood, sweat, and tears!” (ethically sourced, of course), the founders had fine-tuned proprietary technology which successfully alchemized diamonds from air pollution.
First, atmospheric collectors pull carbon dioxide (CO2) straight from the sky, pulling it into specialized filters.
Next, the captured CO2 is synthesized into a usable hydrocarbon perfect for growing diamonds. After this, the hydrocarbon raw materials are placed into powerful reactors that create the perfect environment for growth.
100% of the energy required from start to finish comes from renewable and low-emissions sources which, despite their carbon-neutrality, doesn’t hinder Aether’s carbon-negative footprint.
Cool, right? I would love to go to their lab and witness this!
Note:
The founder and CEO of the brand using Tesla as an example of a climate change hero was a bummer, why? I wrote this article about lithium mining, if you read it you are going to understand why this practice is really really far away from being good for our planet and fighting climate change.
"When I look at other companies that have really nailed the type of positioning that we're going after—Tesla TSLA -0.9% being a really prime example— I think about those old cartoon visuals, where the protagonist has to make a decision,” says Shearman.
